Welcome to the Illyria!

Stardate 58561.8: Day One

Now that you've all got your room assignments and communicators, it's time to explore this ship. Please check out the deck plans to figure out where you're going. You can read about some of the existing crew members you might run into here.

Even those of you who may feel right at home on a spaceship will find that the Illyria is definitely a bit... different. Mostly because she's kind of a wreck right now. Whatever it was that threw the ship all the way out here to wherever we are, it really did a number on the ship itself. There's a lot of damaged areas, and several of the ship's systems have been compromised. You'll find that the replicators don't always work right (I asked for hasperat and I got pok tar!?), the turbolifts are unusually persnickety (I said bridge, not engineering!), and the environmental controls in your quarters may not do as they're told (why is it snowing in Room 4J?). Several corridors are blocked by debris, and more often than not the lights are flickering if they're on at all.

So what will you do? Help clean up the mess in the hallways? Try some bizarre alien food in the mess hall? Try and infiltrate restricted areas to get a peek at the ship's systems? Feel free to make your own top level comment, and treat this as a big mingle. Get to know your new crewmates, explore your new home, make friends or enemies, and whatever you do, don't try the gagh. If you need the captain or the first officer, please let a mod know, but try and stick to threading with your fellow new recruits!

(Don't worry about the entry tags for the moment, they will be added shortly. Before we throw ourselves into missions on alien planets, we wanted everyone to have a chance to get to know one another, so please use this opening log as an opportunity to kick off some CR with crewmates and bunk buddies, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask a mod!)

"It's all right." Luke did wonder what he meant with the joke, but he didn't ask for elaboration.

"Strange." Luke replied. "Sounds like someone's trying to hide something from us." That was the natural logic when records were erased like that. "I don't think I like it."

Luke noticed the other man's curiosity, his instinct telling him he probably wasn't from the same area he was, probably didn't know about the Force.

"I guess some of these lifts look a little interesting, since the items are so big. Many of the beings where I come from can access and use a kind of energy called the Force. It flows through all living things, but not everyone can use it. I can tap into it and make it a little easier to deal with some of the heavier stuff."

The Doctor is continuing on at the task at hand before stopping, "All living things? Even non-humans?" He hadn't thought to ask Luke if non-humans existed where he was from, or come across.

"I'm beginning to think we've been pulled to a pocket universe." Because that's happened far too often in his life. "Where are you from?" Maybe the Doctor knew the planet and could figure things out from there.

"In some cases, yes." Luke didn't elaborate too much, but he knew of a few cases. A few creatures used it to hunt. And then there were ysalamiri, which were his main reason for caution. He couldn't exactly spill anything about a Force-blocking creature to someone he didn't know well. Of course, it was impossible to know if they'd run across the galaxy he was from, let alone the creatures' habitat.

Luke nodded at the pocket dimension comment. There were rumors of places in the galaxy that were something like that, although Luke had never been into one yet. The Rift might be somewhat similar, but not completely. "It could be, yeah."

"We've just always called it the Galaxy." he replied. "There are probably millions of planets and systems, though there are a few that might reasonably be known by others. Coruscant, the capital...Corellia...unfortunately where I grew up, Tattooine, was known for a lot of the wrong reasons inside the galaxy. I can't say much about outside."

The only extra-galactic life forms known so far were the Yuzhaan Vong, which weren't all that friendly, and possibly the Rusaan...Luke did wonder about humans, if they were also found outside the galaxy as he was seeing, but no one knew for sure.

Oh humans always found ways to spread themselves across the universe. It was one of the reasons why the Doctor was so fond of them, of their determination and resilience. He was always proud of seeing their achievements, standing back and observing as Time Lords are suppose to do.

Though the name Tattooine wasn't familiar to the Doctor. "It's possible there's a wormhole nearby where we all were and brought us to this pocket universe." Realistically, he knew the chances of this happening was slim.

"I do plenty of traveling myself, but I haven't been everywhere."

"That's possible." Luke nodded. "Something with hypersace. The lanes we've found from one place to another are usually very temperamental and can disappear on us, but there could be some sort of technology that someone can use to open a different sort of lane or something." he said.

The Doctor glances down at the walls of the ship, "And it's possible this has that capability!" A good chance at it, at least. "I'll be spending most of my time trying to figure this place out and find out what I know about it."

Because he wasn't familiar with this ship and is far too curious to know what's going on.

"Yeah, probably." Luke nodded. Considering the distances, it would need something to travel faster than light. "So will I." he nodded.

"My name's Luke, by the way. Luke Skywalker."
