Hoitu'yunia Phase Two!

Characters: James "Bucky" Barnes and Axel, Luke Skywalker and The Doctor
Stardate: 58591.8 (Day Twelve)
Location: Hoitu'yunia
Summary: Two sets of intrepid explorers have agreed to embark on fetch quests for the captain. Hilarity probably ensues.
Warnings: Nothing expected, but if something comes up please note in your subject line!
The situation was fairly simple: the coastal colony needed a handful of fairly simple items to sustain their population, but those items were not found in what was considered their landclaims. Thus, they had no choice but to plead their case to the core colony, and negotiations had become increasingly difficult over the past year. Captain Palu was asked to step in and act as an arbitrator to negotiate a long-term agreement between the colonies to allow them to work together to sustain one another, and in return, the coastal colony was willing to impart some information regarding a technology that the Illyria could benefit from.
The negotiation worked out just as simply: if the coastal colony would permit the core colony to fish its waters for tamesis (a firm, lean pink fish with white, mild-flavored meat, which is considered a delicacy among the Hoitu), then the core colony will permit the coastals to hunt and gather on their lands. This resource exchange will occur on the day of the full moon (approximately every two and a half earth weeks).
However, since the full moon occurred only two nights ago, the core colony has decided to allow the coastals one day out of cycle in order to be able to sustain themselves until the next full moon. Those who volunteered to assist in this task have been assigned the following missions:
James Buchanan Barnes and Axel: Since you two appear to specialize in some form of combat where you come from, you are to venture into the thick forests to the north of the core colony to hunt for the elusive pullus, a small wolf-like creature prized for its richly flavored meat and water-repellent fur. The meat can be very easily cured to last over the winter months, and the pelts are made into warm clothes which help keep the mostly-cold-blooded Hoitu warm when the temperature drops. The pullus is about the size of a border collie, and travels in packs of between five and twelve members, usually led by an alpha female. They are not especially aggressive, but are not afraid to bite when threatened, and their jaws can produce nearly a thousand pounds of pressure, so do watch your hands. It is considered safest to pick off smaller, weaker pack members from a distance and retrieve the bodies once the rest of the pack has moved on, since several pullus attacking at once can easily overpower the average humanoid. Two teams of coastal Hoitu will also be hunting in the area; this team is asked to retrieve six to eight carcasses and bring them to the core colony for cataloging.
Luke Skywalker and The Doctor: Due to your more varied skillsets, you are to head to the southwestern corner of the core colony to the Cliffs of Dauberr, where you will find the guaco and jarrinha plants. The guaco is a thornless, viney plant with bright green heart-shaped leaves and small white flowers that smell vaguely of vanilla; the leaves, when crushed, have a spicy smell and are used to aid respiratory maladies. It only grows down the vertical face of the cliff. Jarrinha is also a viney plant, which grows at the base of the cliff and climbs upward. The vine is dark green, and it has serrated leaves and unusual bright purple flowers with an almost cloyingly sweet scent. The thick, fleshy vines can be ground into a paste which is a topical analgesic, and when dried, it can be used as a sedative and a digestive aid. Just be careful when you're cutting the vines--the thick, milky white sap of the older, thicker vines can cause numbness of the hands if contact is made. You may encounter a team of Hoitu who will also be collecting specimens; please retrieve approximately two pounds of guaco flowers, and approximately ten yards of jarrinha vine, and bring them to the core colony for cataloging.
[[Either team member may make the top level post for these two missions. You are free to face whatever hardships you desire while undertaking these missions, and whether or not you meet your quota is up to you. You will have the entirety of Day Twelve, but we are still on Hoitu'yunia until the end of Day Thirteen, so if you find yourself lost in the wilds and you have to rough it for the night, or you get kidnapped by hill people or something, feel free to have your time spill over. You will be found and brought back to the ship before we leave, though, so don't worry about being left behind.
[[Your comm badges will work here on the planet's surface, so if you run into serious trouble, you are welcome to call another character to your aid (provided they are cool with that), or a Redshirt can come lend a hand and possibly die, or whatever you feel will be the most fun for you. You are also welcome to encounter and NPC the Hoitu who will also be hunting/gathering in the area. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask a mod; we're still trying to suss out the best way to do future missions, so any and all feedback is welcome!]]
